[ COMPUTRON "BOYS"] BULOVA USA 1977

Smaller Module Offers Greater Freedom in Design

Using a smaller battery than the previous models, Bulova succeeded in creating a smaller module for this last-period model. Thanks to this module, the watch offers a more complex case and display shape than the previous, square-shaped designs. The back cover design was also revamped by changing the two battery covers that held the batteries in previous models to a single cover.

[ TOUCH SENSOR LED ] MARCURY USA 1976

Slim Case with Touch Sensors on the Display

This design looks like a typical wristwatch with tags on the top and bottom of its round case. However, this watch used an innovative method of operation with the display activated by touch sensors, with metallic contacts that poke out on the upper right and right center portions of the red display. In addition to eliminating the need for push buttons on the sides or elsewhere on the case, this design allows for a much thinner case by using a simplified module,.

[ PULSAR FOR LADIES “OVAL”] TIME COMPUTER USA 1974

A Women's Model that Expressed Innovation through Design

This elliptical case design variation was released at the same time as the model with the cushion-shaped case. The uniform construction with curvature in both the face and bracelet is very characteristic of Pulsar. Initial models were designed to have a small magnet stored in the clasp of the bracelet placed on the back cover to set the time, but in later models the time was set using only the button on the front face.

RIQUARTZ LED 860

Men's Model with Identical Module to the Pulsar

Japanese manufacturer Ricoh, which collaborated on technology with Hamilton, released another LED watch using a men's dress model module from Pulsar. While the small stainless case design is similar to the Pulsar ladies' model, the red display is cut and stones are used for the top and bottom buttons. These and other details gave it a distinctive look.
